Things we take for granted

After a week of flu and cold, you start to appreciate the things you've taken for granted, like sleep, muscles that don't ache from coughing all the time, and on the list goes.

It seems like that's like most everything else in life. Like sitting around a nice campfire with family or friends, until you realize that your daughter suffers for 2 or 3 days afterward because she can't breathe. Or taking a walk on legs that don't hurt after walking 8 or 10 feet. Or telling someone you love them, or wishing you would have.

Life is so short, especially after something tragic happens. In retrospect, you think of all the things you should have done or could have done but for being blinded by the minute circumstances that drive your day.

Why are we like that? Probably because we don't start the day looking to do the things that bring God the glory. We're so caught up in ourselves and our "importance", that we forget that life "is not about me".
